Social Impact

  • During construction, up to 300 workers will be employed. The company will employ a great part of the personnel afterwards. Greek and foreign contractors undertaking specific tasks will be required to recruit personnel from Thrace.
  • Employment at the mine and plant will be 185 permanent employees. TGM is committed to maximise local benefits in terms of direct and indirect employment and procurement expenditures. An appropriate and early training program will be set-up in order to ensure that a maximum number of employees of the area can benefit from the job opportunities created.
  • Employee training is continuous throughout the life of the project with emphasis in the environmental and first aid skills
  • The improvement of skills will be valuable for the workers even after the project life.
  • The project will generate another 800 jobs through industrial maintenance, supply and service activities in the area, most notably to the benefit of the Sapes, Alexandroupolis and Komotini areas. It is estimated that the project operation will generate 105 Million Euro of business locally.
  • It is anticipated that the company will spend about 6 million euro over the life time of the project in Community support. Additional funds will be earmarked towards the improvement of infrastructure, education grants and scientific research grants.
